The conservancy that oversees a storied but aging ocean liner and its landlord have resolved a years-old rent dispute that will clear the way for a Florida county to turn the historic ship into the world’s largest artificial reef.
The SS United States Conservancy has reached a settlement with pier operator Penn Warehousing, bringing an end to a lengthy legal battle that has been ongoing for over two years.
Following months of protracted legal arguments, the fate of the SS United States has now been set and the ship will formally be handed over to Okaloosa County, Florida on Saturday, October 12.
